Value Engineering

A product is successfully developed when it can be successfully positioned in the market - not when it works technically flawless. With a systematic value engineering process, the chances of a successful market positioning can be greatly increased. For this reason, Zühlke Engineering and the SwissFactory.Group have decided to establish a competence center for value engineering. The long-term and profound engineering know-how of Zühlke, coupled with the extensive production competence of the SwissFactory.Group, enables products to be developed that are optimally prepared for market entry.

Thanks to the wide range of production technologies, functional samples, prototypes or pre-series can be produced and tested at any time. With regard to this competence center for value engineering, Zühlke Engineering and the SwissFactory.Group have also developed an innovative process - Value Engineering 360°!

What is Value Engineering 360°?

The main focus is cost optimization at all levels. Requirements are evaluated quantitatively and critically questioned if necessary. The most suitable production technology is determined and the product design optimized accordingly. In this process, engineering works hand in hand with production and procurement.

However, the cost optimization process does not end with the introduction of the product to the market. Throughout its life cycle the goal is to further optimize the product and adapt it to the next suitable production technology, so that it can be produced efficiently in larger quantities.

What is Value Engineering Plus?

The greatest benefits arise when development projects are implemented from the start using Value Engineering methods. But Value Engineering also makes sense for products already on the market. On the one hand, manufacturing costs can be reduced, and on the other hand, additional performance or functionality can be implemented into the product, which among other things increases the chances for a longer product life cycle. To this end, the SwissFactory.Group offers the Value Engineering Plus process.

Value Engineer as godmother
or godfather of the product

For the implementation of the value engineering processes, a designated expert (Value Engineer) is always available, who accompanies the development team during product development and industrialization as a sparring partner. As the "godparent" of the product, he/she primarily feels responsible for a successful market positioning. He/She asks the right questions, points out alternatives, and ensures that production-related aspects are fully considered. He/She has the necessary network to bring the appropriate external resources to the table at any time if necessary. He/She is financed via a monthly flat rate defined at the start of the project.
